Systems demand networking – PPS for technical documentation?

By: Ulrich Schmidt

A heterogeneous system landscape in technical documentation, many interfaces, time consuming manual steps between highly efficient production areas, writing hundreds of e-mails, complicated creation of directories and data storage .. all of this wakes desires! The desire to be able to work in a uniform work environment, and the desire for processes that can be networked cross-departmentally and controlled and processed automatically. itl has developed i-flow, a system that fulfills these desires.

PPS for technical documentation

[i]-flow offers a central platform for all persons involved in the process beginning with the product manager or editor to the project manager, service provider or freelance translator, and proofreaders, DTP specialized staff or print shops.

[i]-flow controls creation, translation and publishing processes according to individual company-specific requirements and parameters:

  • Configurable workflows are used to store all process-specific parameters, such as information to be created, relevant documents, languages to be translated, specialized areas, contacts, project dates, project managers, correspondence templates, data storage directories, billing terms, etc. The selection of the workflow at the beginning of the order provides access to all base requirements.
  • i-flow supports the project manager in project processing by automatically processing recurring work steps 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. [i]-flow uses integrated workflow engines to process the steps in translation memory and DTP systems. In addition, [i]-flow automates correspondence creation and its distribution through an integrated interface to the internal corporate e-mail system.
  • i-flow automatically calculates project costs according to the workflow-specific billing terms and provides the information transparently to authorized persons involved in the process.
  • [i]-flow monitors defined project dates within the project and automatically alerts the responsible project managers if deadlines are exceeded.

[i]-flow is marked by an open interface concept. Worldwide web portals enable simple and transparent order generation and tracking. Company-internal applications for creating information such as CMS, DMS, PIM, etc., can be linked seamlessly to a downstream translation and publishing workflow via [i]-flow.
