Constructive exchange on the 1st itl Across Day
The 1st itl Across Day took place on September 23, 2008, in Stuttgart in the Stuttgart Train Depot Tower. Numerous itl customers who are using the Across translation memory system found a forum for the professional discussion with itl and Across experts at this event.
The many different configuration options of Across were discussed during different topic blocks and experiences gathered at different companies were exchanged. In addition, there was discussion of editorial, translation and terminology processes and how they can be optimally and efficiently implemented with the Across Language Server.
As an initial basis, the Across project settings and the correlation and effects of penalties and memory settings were addressed in-depth including the subsequent optimal data exchange with service providers using crossGrid options. The second part of the event dealt with process issues, especially those related to quality assurance, data maintenance for translation memory and terminology and terminology processes in source and target language. A few additional potential improvements were identified for future Across versions. A comprehensive final question and answer session gave customers the opportunity to discuss their own process questions with the Across specialists before the conference was closed with a forecast of the further development of the Across Language Server.
The constructive exchange in the pleasant atmosphere of the Stuttgarter Bahnhofsturm above the rooftops of Stuttgart was received as very positive and fruitful across the board so that itl is considering a repeat of such event for next year. Ms. Wallin- Felkner, Managing Director of itl, noted: “An optimal translation process that is profitable for all parties involved can only be designed with cooperation between the system manufacturer, service provider and customer. We are grateful to have a partner in Across who is taking this path together with us and thereby optimally supports our customers.”
Last, but not least, the success of this day can be attributed to the active participation of all participants, especially the competent support provided by Mr. Walter (Senior Consultant) and Mr. Kreckwitz (CTO) of Across, who enhanced itl’s technology podium.
